The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has announced its intent to intensify support efforts for people in crisis following the Israeli government's decision to ban the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) in Gaza.

Amy Pope, IOM's Director-General, emphasized that while the agency cannot replace the crucial role UNRWA plays, it is committed to providing assistance to those in need. 'UNRWA is essential to the people of Gaza, and IOM acknowledges its unique role that we cannot assume,' Pope stated to reporters.

She reassured that IOM would step up its support efforts, engaging with various stakeholders to aid affected populations amidst ongoing challenges.
