In the Akhnoor sector of Jammu, a renewed gunfight broke out on Tuesday morning as security forces launched a final push to counter two terrorists, officials reported.
Following the targeting of an army convoy by terrorists on Monday morning, swift action from special forces and NSG commandos resulted in the elimination of one attacker. The situation saw intense firing and explosions on Tuesday, signaling the end of a brief overnight calm.
The operation tragically claimed the life of Phantom, a four-year-old Army dog. Security forces, for the first time, employed four BMP-II infantry vehicles alongside helicopters and drones to bolster surveillance and enforce a cordon, aiming to locate the remaining terrorists near the Jogwan village's Assan temple.
