Turkey launched a series of overnight air strikes against Kurdish militants in northern Iraq, targeting a significant number of locations for the second consecutive night. The Defence Ministry confirmed this on Friday, following a recent attack in Ankara that resulted in five fatalities.

The strikes were conducted after an emergency security meeting presided over by President Tayyip Erdogan, alongside top ministers and intelligence officials. The Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), known for its long-standing insurgency in southeast Turkey, claimed responsibility for the recent Ankara attack.

The air strikes focused on 34 PKK sites located in the regions of Hakurk, Gara, Qandil, and Sinjar, aiming to dismantle infrastructure and neutralize militants. In separate operations, Turkey's National Intelligence Organisation reportedly targeted a total of 120 PKK sites across Iraq and Syria.
