In a brutal incident, ten security personnel were killed and three injured during an attack by militants on a checkpost in the volatile Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region, Pakistan, officials confirmed Friday.
The assault occurred on Thursday at the checkpost in Daraban area of Dera Ismail Khan district, triggering a fierce gunfight, according to police sources. Immediately after the attack, additional troops were deployed, launching an extensive search operation to apprehend the attackers.
Authorities suspect the involvement of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which has not claimed responsibility yet. The attack highlights the escalating terrorism since the Taliban's 2021 ascension in Kabul, challenging Pakistan's hopes for regional peace.
