Mumbai Police have arrested Shaikh Hussain Shaikh Mausin, a 24-year-old vegetable seller from Jamshedpur, in connection with the threat message sent to actor Salman Khan, officials reported on Wednesday.
The threat, which demanded Rs 5 crore, was received on the Mumbai Traffic Police's WhatsApp helpline last week, leading police to file a case and begin their investigation. After tracking the message to Jharkhand, police dispatched teams to apprehend the accused, while another team was sent to Guwahati.
Although an apology was later sent from the same phone number, increased security measures for Khan were already in place following earlier threats from the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang, who were suspected of a shooting outside Khan's home in April.
