Germany's Ambassador to India, Philipp Ackermann, has stated that German authorities are maintaining 'very close contact' with India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to resolve the situation involving an Indian girl in foster care in Germany.
The ambassador revealed this during a press interaction at his residence, when asked about the potential diplomatic efforts to bring back three-year-old Ariha. He emphasized the commitment by the foster parents to honor the child's cultural background.
As Germany's legal system makes youth authorities independent, the solution is more persuasive than directive. Efforts, including language and cultural exposure for the child, are ongoing as the issue could be raised at the highest diplomatic level during the upcoming visit of Chancellor Olaf Scholz to India.
