German prosecutors have filed murder charges against a Russian citizen suspected of stabbing two Ukrainian soldiers in southern Germany to death. The incident occurred outside a shopping center in Murnau am See last April, where the soldiers were found with severe stab wounds. Tragically, one soldier, aged 36, died at the scene, while the other, aged 23, died later in the hospital.

The 57-year-old Russian, who was arrested shortly afterwards at his home, remains in custody in Munich. According to the prosecutors, the accused was motivated by excessive nationalism and supported the war in Ukraine. The attack followed an altercation over the situation in Ukraine, and the men had met prior to the incident.

Prosecutors revealed that the three individuals were drinking together before the argument turned deadly. A regional jury court in Munich is now tasked with deciding whether to proceed with the main trial proceedings.
