The contentious atmosphere in Parliamentary proceedings took another turn on Wednesday when opposition leaders accused Jagdambika Pal of breaching procedural norms. They alleged the chairman publicly disclosed an instance of violence during a recent committee meeting, involving TMC member Kalyan Banerjee.
Mr. Pal, however, stood firm in his stance, asserting that his statements to the media did not pertain to any confidential deliberations of the committee. Instead, he claimed to have only addressed the incident of violence that transpired during the meeting.
Despite Mr. Pal's reassurances, opposition figures, including DMK member A Raja and AAP member Sanjay Singh, expressed their concerns about the manner of disclosure. They argue that the incident should have remained confidential and raise questions about the conduct and intent behind the committee's proceedings.
