India Post faces a directive to refund 50 paise to a consumer after a dispute over 'rounding off' costs. The consumer disputes redressal commission also demanded compensation for causing mental agony.

The Kancheepuram district commission emphasized deficiencies in service and imposed Rs 5,000 towards litigation costs. The complaint arose after A Manasha, a consumer, encountered a discrepancy while mailing a letter.

Despite attempts to rectify the issue, a software glitch led to the 50 paise discrepancy. The commission's ruling highlights accountability in service delivery under the Consumer Protection Act.
