In Bihar's Muzaffarpur district, a 26-year-old man named Shyam Sahni has died after allegedly drinking illicit liquor. This death comes soon after a hooch tragedy which recently claimed 37 lives across the state.

The incident occurred in the Hathauri area, where Sahni was reportedly consumed toxic liquor with friends. His sudden vomiting, headache, and loss of vision were alarming, and despite being rushed to a hospital by his family, Sahni succumbed on Tuesday. His father, Chandra Kishore Sahni, insists that spurious liquor was the cause.

Muzaffarpur district magistrate Subrat Kumar Sen stated that though they received reports of the death, the family's hasty cremation of the body prevented a proper investigation. While officials conducted inspections in 70 medical centers, no cases of blindness were found. The incident underscores the ongoing political tension in Bihar, where a total alcohol ban was imposed in 2016.
