Iranian Brigadier Charged in Iranian American Author Assassination Plot
Ruhollah Bazghandi, an official of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, has been charged along with three others in a conspiracy to assassinate Iranian American author Masih Alinejad in the US. Alinejad, an activist and journalist living in exile, confirmed she was the intended target of the plot.

Alinejad, al-Iranian opposition figure and journalist residing in New York as a political exile, confirmed she was the assassination plot's target, though her name is absent from official court documents. The indictment names Bazghandi and three accomplices in this scheme.
Identified as a brigadier general previously spearheading the Revolutionary Guards' counterintelligence units, Bazghandi's involvement in numerous clandestine operations has been acknowledged by the US Department of Treasury, marking the Revolutionary Guards as proponents of global terrorism.
