The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) made headlines on Monday by discontinuing the services of all its contractual staff, effective immediately.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has criticized the move, suggesting that the BJP orchestrated this decision, rendering countless families jobless during the festive season of Diwali.
According to a DCW order, the termination follows a directive from April 29 by the Women and Child Development (WCD) that had the approval of the Lt Governor. Allegations of irregular recruitment practices have surfaced, with sources claiming that these appointments were made illegally. A committee's 2017 report had recommended against such appointments, calling for procedure adherence. The BJP has yet to respond to these charges put forth by the AAP.
