Delhi Police have apprehended three individuals in connection with a sophisticated land fraud operation that allegedly duped a victim out of Rs 85 lakh, according to official statements released Monday.
The arrested individuals, identified as Madan Mohan Sharma, Deepak, and Anil Kumar, were named in an FIR filed July 15, 2023, at the Sarojini Nagar police station. The complaint, registered by a sub-registrar, accused them of using forged documents in a scheme that targeted Sanjay Mathur. The Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest), Surendra Choudhary, provided details of the allegations.
The accused allegedly lured Mathur by posing as employees of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), claiming they could secure a DDA plot for Rs 85 lakh. A counterfeit conveyance deed was then produced. However, upon registration, the document was confirmed to be fraudulent. The arrests were made October 18 amidst an ongoing search for Pradeep, another alleged participant in the scheme.
