Israel's security services have dismantled a spy ring allegedly working for Iranian intelligence. Seven Israelis, including minors, were arrested and accused of gathering intelligence on military and critical infrastructure. The operation involved cryptocurrency payments and is considered a severe security breach.
In a significant development, Israel's security services have uncovered a spy ring allegedly operating on behalf of Iranian intelligence. According to a joint statement by the Shin Bet and police, the group was involved in gathering sensitive information on Israeli military bases and critical infrastructure.
The suspects, seven Israelis from the country's north, including two minors, were arrested following an intensive investigation. These individuals had allegedly been tasked by Iranian agents to carry out numerous intelligence-gathering missions. Particular targets included military bases, air defense systems, and energy infrastructure, such as a power plant in Hadera.
The financial incentives for this espionage were substantial, with suspects reportedly receiving hundreds of thousands of dollars, partially in cryptocurrency. Authorities labeled this breach as one of the most severe in Israel's history. Legal proceedings are anticipated as the prosecutor's office prepares to serve indictments in the coming days.
