The Telangana BJP on Monday requested a National Investigation Agency (NIA) probe into the desecration of a temple idol, alleging that individuals were trained to vandalize Hindu temples. MPs, MLAs, and other leaders submitted a memorandum to Governor Jishnu Dev Varma.

The BJP cited 'personality development' classes used to indoctrinate individuals in a systematic threat to national security, prompting a demand to hand over the investigation to the NIA. They urged that those involved be arrested and booked under UAPA provisions.

Authorities have taken a 30-year-old engineering graduate into custody in connection with the incident and are investigating others linked with 'motivational speaker' classes. Allegations surfaced following the temple's desecration at Muthyalamma in Secunderabad.
