The Karnataka High Court has dismissed a public interest litigation devised against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, which sought an apology for allegedly defaming Indian women.
Originating from accusations without evidence against former Janata Dal MP Prajwal Revanna, Gandhi had allegedly characterized the incidents involving Revanna as 'mass rape.' The court ruled the petition lacked merit and imposed a Rs 25,000 fine on the All India Dalit Action Committee for its filing.
The Court criticized the move as depleting judicial resources, with the petitioner's counsel emphasizing the remarks as damaging and calling for punitive consequences against Gandhi, which the court declined.
