A rescue mission is underway in Myanmar following a tragic boat accident in the Andaman Sea that has left seven people dead and more than 30 missing. The vessel, filled with villagers fleeing local conflict, capsized just minutes after setting sail.

The boat was traveling from the island of Kyauk Kar to the coastal town of Myeik. It was reportedly overcrowded, carrying nearly double its capacity, which, combined with the strong sea currents, likely led to the disaster. Around 30 passengers were rescued.

The region has been engulfed in violence following military actions against pro-democracy resistance. This recent tragedy underscores the perilous conditions faced by many in Myanmar as they try to escape ongoing conflict.
