In a developing situation, South Korea has registered a strong protest with Russia, summoning the Russian ambassador to Seoul over concerns regarding the alleged deployment of North Korean troops to Ukraine. This move comes amidst rising geopolitical tensions.
Georgy Zinoviev, a senior Russian diplomat in Seoul, confirmed meeting with South Korea's first vice foreign minister Kim Hong-kyun. The meeting was held following reports from South Korea's spy agency, which indicated North Korea had dispatched 1,500 special forces to Russia's Far East for combat preparation.
Despite the assertions, both Russia and North Korea have categorically denied claims of military collaboration. The White House National Security Council has also not confirmed these reports, but acknowledged the potential escalation in tensions such a development could cause.
