In a bid for social media fame, a 22-year-old man was nabbed by police in Dwarka for flaunting illegal firearms in his posts. The individual, known as Akash, was reportedly inspired by imprisoned gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and sought to emulate his notoriety online.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Ankit Singh, a specialized team was monitoring various social media channels for criminal activities when they discovered Akash's photos on Instagram. After establishing a surveillance strategy, authorities successfully tracked and apprehended him near the Kair bus depot on October 15.
Law enforcement seized a country-made pistol and ammunition from his possession, subsequently charging him under the Arms Act. It was revealed during questioning that Akash, with over 9,000 Instagram followers, acquired the weapon from an associate a month prior to his arrest. The young man, a resident of Haryana's Jhajjar, has an educational background up to Class 12, police noted.
