The elderly couple, Shibu Singh and his wife Nirmala, were taken hostage at gunpoint, and when Singh resisted, he was assaulted.

The thieves made off with Rs 2 crore in cash and jewelry. Police have launched an investigation, suspecting insider involvement, with multiple teams working to track down the assailants.
