Tamil Nadu braces for heavy rain as Chief Minister M K Stalin takes precautionary measures, closing schools and advising IT firms to adopt remote work between October 15 to 18. The Regional Meteorological Centre, Chennai, predicts a significant weather event due to a low-pressure area over the southeast Bay of Bengal.
Stalin has instructed the National Disaster Response Force and Tamil Nadu Disaster Response Force to be on alert, deploying rescue boats and enhancing metro train frequencies. Essential goods prices are being monitored, and relief centers are ready. Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin and officials participated in the review meeting.
Criticism emerged from AIADMK's Edappadi K Palaniswami, pointing to inadequate relief efforts in rain-affected areas beyond Chennai. He urged the DMK government to ensure comprehensive disaster management akin to past administrations.
