New allegations of sexual abuse have emerged against Mohamed Al Fayed, the late Egyptian billionaire known for owning the iconic Harrods department store. According to British police, 40 new accusations have been linked to the businessman after a recent BBC documentary aired the claims.
The allegations, received by London's Metropolitan Police, span from 1979 to 2013 and involve offenses of sexual assault and rape against 40 victims. While the documentary accused Al Fayed of abusing female staff at Harrods and threatening them to stay silent, Harrods, under new ownership since 2010, expressed its shock at the claims.
Despite prior allegations reported between 2005 and 2023, no action was taken against Al Fayed, who denied the accusations during his lifetime. Investigations continue, with police reaching out to other entities associated with the businessman to ensure all potential victims are identified.
