In an intensified campaign against corruption, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau has arrested a station house officer and his accomplice for bribery in Kapurthala district. According to an official statement, the arrests are part of ongoing efforts to eradicate corrupt practices in the state.

The arrested officer, Inspector Jatinder Kumar, associated with the Phagwara City Police Station, and Jaskaran Singh, alias Jassa, were caught accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000, as revealed by an official release. The arrests followed a detailed complaint lodged by a woman from Chachoki village, further exposing a pattern of bribery linked to a narcotics case against her family.

The complainant disclosed how her son was detained with family members in March, leading to multiple demands for bribes by the inspector. Despite initially paying the bribes, the woman recorded further demands as evidence, facilitating the bureau in executing a successful trap and arrest.
