The Gujarat High Court on Friday considered a plea challenging the remand of Mahesh Langa, a senior journalist apprehended over a GST fraud case. Langa contests a 10-day remand ordered by a magistrate, claiming it lacks judicial scrutiny.

According to Langa's counsel, Jal Unwalla, the journalist's name was absent from the FIR, associating Langa falsely with DA Enterprise, which he says does not belong to him. DA Enterprise reportedly has two proprietors, neither of whom is Langa.

The hearing also highlighted a broader investigation involving around 220 shell companies allegedly defrauding the government with bogus tax credits. The court instructed Langa's counsel to furnish the plea copies to the prosecution ahead of further discussions set for Monday.
