Escalating Tensions: Tehran Prepared for Strong Defense
Iran is ready to take stronger defensive actions if Israel retaliates against its recent missile attack. The Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Araqchi, stated that their response was in self-defense and they seek a ceasefire. Israel, however, vows a precise and unexpected response.
Tehran has declared its readiness to engage in "stronger defensive actions" should Israel strike back following last week's missile attack, according to Iran's Foreign Minister, Abbas Araqchi. He reaffirmed Iran's preparedness in an official letter to foreign ministers, per a ministry post on X.
On October 1, Iran launched a missile attack in response to Israeli actions in Lebanon and Gaza, as well as the assassination of a Hamas leader within Iranian borders. Araqchi emphasized that the attack fell within Iran's international law right of self-defense, exercising restraint while seeking a ceasefire in the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict.
In response, Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant has warned that Israel's retaliatory actions against Iran will be "lethal, precise, and surprising." (Reported by Dubai Newsroom; edited by Angus McDowall and Timothy Heritage)
