Punjab's New Administrative Chapter: KAP Sinha Takes Charge

The Punjab government has appointed senior IAS officer KAP Sinha as the new chief secretary, replacing Anurag Verma. Sinha, a 1992-batch officer, previously held multiple key positions. This appointment marks the fourth chief secretary appointment in the AAP government in just over two years, amid recent staff resignations.

In a significant administrative reshuffle, the Punjab government has named KAP Sinha, a seasoned IAS officer, as the new chief secretary, replacing Anurag Verma, according to an official directive issued on Wednesday.

Sinha, from the 1992 batch of the Indian Administrative Service, Punjab cadre, previously held critical roles overseeing revenue, rehabilitation, disaster management, and agriculture-related departments. Verma, a 1993 batch officer, will now assume additional portfolios as the additional chief secretary.

This adjustment at the top echelon of Punjab's administration is the fourth such change under the AAP government in two-and-a-half years, and coincides with the recent resignation of several key aides to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, indicating a reshuffling phase within the state government.
