An FIR has been registered by the Madhya Pradesh Police against Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut for reportedly making misleading statements about the Ladli Behna Yojana, according to officials. The police action follows a complaint lodged by BJP's Mahila Morcha representatives.
The incident comes on the heels of comments by MP CM Mohan Yadav, who accused Shiv Sena leaders of attempting to sway voters amid fear of losing upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections. Raut alleged that the Ladli Behna Yojana was a political ploy and had been discontinued.
The Madhya Pradesh government under the scheme offers Rs 1,250 monthly to women beneficiaries, a program mirrored in Maharashtra's Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana. Disputes related to these remarks have raised tensions regarding voter influence and women's welfare policies.
