Summit Postponed: U.S. Weather Crisis Delays Ukraine Defense Meeting
A crucial summit involving Ukraine's key allies in Ramstein, Germany, has been postponed due to U.S. President Joe Biden's absence, required for hurricane preparations. Initially aimed at reinforcing support for Kyiv, the meeting's delay doesn't undercut its significance, as leaders coordinate ongoing defense efforts against Russia.
The summit meeting of Ukraine's key allies, originally planned in Ramstein, Germany, on Saturday, has been postponed due to U.S. President Joe Biden's absence, according to organizers. The White House announced Biden's need to manage preparations for Hurricane Milton and ongoing relief operations following last month's devastating hurricane.
The event, set to be the highest-level meeting of Ukraine's arms donors, was scheduled during Biden's state visit to Germany, which would have been the first U.S. state visit in almost 40 years. Although postponed, future Ukraine Defense Contact Group meetings will continue, authorities confirmed.
Despite the delay, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy continues his European tour, including meetings with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and other leaders, intending to present Ukraine's "victory plan" and reinforce support against Russian aggression.
