Israeli Airstrike in Damascus: Civilian Casualties Reported
An Israeli airstrike in the Mezzah suburb of Damascus killed seven civilians and injured 11. The attack caused significant property damage and was executed via three missiles from the Golan Heights. Israel has increased strikes on Iran-linked targets in Syria, especially since the Gaza war escalations.
An Israeli airstrike struck the Mezzah suburb, a residential area west of Damascus, leading to the deaths of seven civilians and injuring 11 others on Tuesday, according to Syrian state media reports.
The casualties reportedly included women and children, and the incident caused severe damage to local properties. The attack involved three missiles originating from the Golan Heights, as per a military source cited by state media.
Syria's air defenses had reportedly intercepted hostile targets near Damascus earlier. Israel, having conducted numerous strikes on Iran-linked sites in Syria over recent years, intensified its raids following last October's Hamas attack, which escalated into a conflict with Gaza.
