In a significant move, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced on Tuesday an increase in the gratuity limit for state government employees from Rs 15 lakh to Rs 20 lakh.

This increment, applicable to the Death-Cum-Retirement Gratuity (DCRG), is retroactively effective from January 1, 2024. The decision comes in response to numerous requests from service associations in the state.

The adjustment aligns with similar changes made by the central government under the Central Civil Services (Pension) Rules, 2021, which also took effect from the start of 2024. The Chief Minister's Office confirmed this update through an official release.
