The Supreme Court of India on Friday expressed serious concerns over the existing communication gaps between the prosecution and government counsel in Telangana, which are hindering the adjudication of criminal cases.
During the hearing, Justices Hrishikesh Roy and S V N Bhatti both underscored the lack of adequate support coming from Telangana's state legal body in criminal proceedings. Justice Bhatti specifically commented on the default situation of poor assistance, while Justice Roy noted that similar patterns are frequently observed in issues related to Telangana's criminal cases.
The state's Director General of Police (DGP), Dr. Jitender, acknowledged the lapses and vowed corrective action. Meanwhile, the state government counsel issued an apology, promising to rectify the shortcomings. This development arose from a plea by Vatti Janaiah Yadav, who alleged criminal persecution by the BRS-led state government.
