Supreme Court Steps In: Independent Probe Ordered into Tirupati Laddu Controversy

The Supreme Court has ordered an independent Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate allegations of animal fat usage in Tirupati laddus. This decision replaces the Andhra Pradesh government's SIT, initially formed to examine this sensitive issue, after political tensions arose. The independent SIT will include officers from the CBI, state police, and FSSAI.

The Supreme Court has established an independent Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the controversial allegations concerning the use of animal fat in the making of Tirupati laddus.

The decision comes as a significant intervention, replacing the Andhra Pradesh government's earlier SIT, amid political tensions surrounding the dispute.

This newly constituted SIT comprises officers from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the Andhra Pradesh Police, and the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).
