The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has escalated its efforts in a high-profile corruption case, arresting Ashish Pandey, a youth figure within the Trinamool Congress, on Thursday. This development comes as part of a probe into former RG Kar Medical College principal Sandip Ghosh's activities.
Pandey, rumored to be closely associated with Ghosh, had been under the CBI's scrutiny, culminating in an interrogation on September 30. Ghosh had previously been apprehended on September 2 in connection to the alleged financial misconduct case.
The CBI's First Information Report (FIR), filed at the behest of the Calcutta High Court, implicates Ghosh and three local businesses in a network of criminal conspiracy and cheating. The investigation continues as officials search the premises of those involved.
