Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai, a senior Army officer in Kashmir, expressed confidence on Thursday that the Army will soon break into the encrypted handsets used by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir.

Ghai admitted that these communications offer terror groups a substantial degree of secrecy. However, he assured reporters that efforts are underway to crack these codes, which he believes will significantly undermine the terror network. Gen Ghai's comments came in his final press conference as the commander of the valley-based XV Corps before he assumes the role of Director General of Military Operations.

Addressing queries on mobile phone usage in the Israel-Lebanon conflict, he stated that the Army is keenly observing global military strategies, drawing lessons to better equip India's armed forces. Ultra handsets, customized by Chinese firms for the Pakistan army, have been confiscated after recent confrontations in the region, revealing their reliance on radio waves for communication, backed by Chinese satellite support.
