The Punjab Police, under the leadership of Chief Gaurav Yadav, is set to ramp up Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) camera surveillance at various hotspots across the state notorious for snatchings and drug sales.

New control rooms are being established at district and sub-divisional levels for real-time monitoring, following a detailed crime hotspot mapping over the last three years.

During a state-level law and order review meeting, the DGP emphasized the priority of curbing petty crimes and enhancing security ahead of the Panchayat elections. Officers have been directed to ensure effective action against crimes such as extortion, snatching, theft, and drug-related offenses, and to maintain vigilance during the upcoming festival season.
