A tragic incident unfolded on Tuesday when a 55-year-old woman in Udaipur district, Rajasthan, was killed by a leopard, bringing the toll of leopard-related deaths to seven, according to forest officials.
Alarmed by the increasing fatalities, the forest authorities issued an immediate order to shoot the man-eater leopard upon identification. This directive came in the wake of Kamla Kanwar's death while she was tending to her livestock outside her home in Suawaton ka Gudha.
Following the orders from Principal Chief Wildlife Warden Pavan Kumar Upadhyay, combined teams of the forest department, police, and army have cordoned off the area where the leopard has been sighted. Though the postmortem report is pending, family members allege it was indeed a leopard attack.
