The Hyderabad police have announced a ban on the use of DJ sound systems and firecrackers during all religious processions in the city. The notification was issued by City Police Commissioner CV Anand on September 30, citing powers from the Hyderabad City Police Act and BNSS regulations.

The directive restricts the use of sound systems to permissible decibel limits to minimize sound pollution. It also highlights that violations will incur penal actions under various provisions, including the Environmental Protection Act and Noise Pollution Rules.

This immediate enforcement follows a stakeholder meeting on September 26, where there was a unanimous agreement on the need for strict measures against DJ systems and fireworks to prevent health and safety issues. Public complaints about noise pollution have surged, impacting the elderly and children's education. Police stations will serve the notification to all relevant parties.
