The Assam Cabinet on Tuesday announced its decision to make public the findings of a committee that investigated alleged malpractices in the state civil service recruitment exams conducted during the previous Congress regime, according to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The report will be presented in the state assembly to inform citizens about the extent of corruption present at that time, Sarma stated.

Details about the Cabinet meeting were shared by Sarma on X, formerly Twitter. He revealed that a two-member inquiry commission, led by Justice (retired) BK Sarma, scrutinized the Combined Competitive Examinations (CEE) of 2013 and 2014 conducted by the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC). The report highlighted severe irregularities and malpractices in the CEE 2013, which were described as beyond imagination.

The Cabinet also approved several other measures, including a scheme for 24/7 water supply to a Tata semiconductor plant in Jagiroad, procurement of 200 MW power from the Kalai II Hydro Electric Project, and renaming 'sub-districts' to 'co-districts.' Additionally, the Cabinet sanctioned the provision of scooters to nearly 49,000 students under the Banikanta Kakati Merit Award of the Pragyan Bharati Scheme.
