In a significant development, a contingent of 150 police personnel conducted an inquiry at the Isha Foundation in Coimbatore. This action comes after the Madras High Court requested a report from the Tamil Nadu government on all criminal cases registered against Jaggi Vasudev's institution.
The court's directive followed a habeas corpus petition filed by retired professor S Kamaraj, who claimed his daughters were 'brainwashed' to live at the Isha Yoga Centre, restricting family contact. The Isha Foundation has denied these allegations, stating it supports individuals' freedom to choose their paths.
According to a senior police official, an enquiry was held with residents of the foundation. In response, the foundation asserted that many residents are not monks and live there by choice. The foundation emphasized this issue has now been taken up by the court and expressed hope that the truth will come to light, ending unwarranted controversies.
