UK Urges Immediate Ceasefire Amid Israel-Lebanon Tensions
British foreign minister David Lammy has called for an immediate ceasefire in the Israel-Lebanon conflict. The appeal follows discussions with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and reports suggesting Israel may escalate its actions in Lebanon. UK citizens in Lebanon are advised to leave promptly.
British foreign minister David Lammy has reiterated the urgent need for a ceasefire, following discussions with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken amid rising tensions between Israel and Lebanon.
Lammy emphasized the consensus reached at the U.N., urging for immediate cessation of hostilities and a return to diplomatic solutions as Israel considered ground operations in Lebanon.
Echoing Lammy's concerns, Prime Minister Keir Starmer's spokesperson urged all parties to exercise restraint, while the UK government advised its citizens to leave Lebanon. A special flight has been arranged to assist British nationals and their dependants in evacuating the country on Wednesday.
