In a shocking turn of events, a man accused in a 2005 double murder case was acquitted on Monday as all witnesses turned hostile. Additional District and Sessions Judge Kanishk Kumar Singh ruled that the prosecution failed to substantiate its claims against Vinod Bawla.

Shyamvir Singh, the defense lawyer, revealed that two farmers, Narender and Sharvan, were fatally shot on December 5, 2005, while transporting sugarcane to a sugar mill in Kinoni village, under Shahpur police jurisdiction. Charges were filed against eight individuals, including Bawla, who faces additional criminal charges.

While six of the accused were convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment in 2011, one died during the trial, and Bawla went into hiding. When the court finally began proceedings against Bawla, eyewitnesses retracted their statements, leading to his acquittal.
