Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and state Congress chief D K Shivakumar declared on Thursday that no leader within the party is claiming the Chief Minister's position, in light of the ongoing Lokayukta probe against incumbent CM Siddaramaiah over the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) site allotment case.

Shivakumar also ruled out Siddaramaiah's resignation despite a special court ordering the Lokayukta police in Mysuru to initiate an investigation. He said, "There is no question of demanding resignation. It's a political conspiracy against the Chief Minister. There is no strength in it. Opposition parties are unnecessarily stirring politics. We will face it legally."

The controversy is based on allegations of illegal site allotments to Siddaramaiah's wife, B M Parvathi, by the MUDA. The charges stem from a complaint filed by RTI activist Snehamayi Krishna, alleging that compensatory sites in an upscale area were unlawfully allotted to Parvathi.
