Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Saturday praised the Siddaramiah-led government, calling it 'people-centred', while criticizing former Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy's administration as 'family-centred'.

Addressing the public after laying the foundation stone for several projects worth Rs 500 crore at Adil Shah grounds, Shivakumar emphasized, "We have laid the foundation for projects in the last three months. The people are not just hearing about these developments but witnessing them firsthand. The officials and ministers are coming to your doorstep to address your needs. The previous MLA abandoned Channapatna. My relationship with Channapatna is like that between God and devotee."

"We are drafting the foreword of development for Channapatna. We plan to make it a golden land. As many as 27,000 people have submitted applications, of which 18,000 are seeking housing. We have earmarked 170 acres for site distribution and are in the process of acquiring another 150 acres," he added. Shivakumar also noted that local corporators face 'threats' and assured their safety.

Further targeting Kumaraswamy, Shivakumar remarked, "Our politics is people-centred, unlike Kumaraswamy's family-centred approach. No one is permanent in politics. Many local corporators have joined the Congress, and we will protect them. Housing Minister Zameer Ahmed has sanctioned 5,000 houses, preferring homes over sites."

Discussing the upcoming by-polls in Karnataka, Shivakumar said, "Kumaranna has to answer to the people of Channapatna. They made you Chief Minister, but you did not repay their trust. Now, you lack the moral right to seek votes. I am the candidate for the by-election. Support whoever I nominate as KPCC President. I am here to serve, not rule. I want to repay my debts to the people. Many have joined our party, and more will follow. I aim to do good for the people," he concluded (ANI).
