During a press conference at CGO Complex, New Delhi, Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs, Shri Kiren Rijiju, detailed the significant achievements and initiatives of his ministry over the past 100 days. Key Initiatives and Achievements

Minister Rijiju focused on several notable initiatives aimed at enhancing parliamentary operations and engaging youth in democratic processes:

National eVidhan Application (NeVA) 2.0

NeVA is a Mission Mode Project designed to transform state legislatures into digital platforms, allowing for a paperless transaction of parliamentary work. Launched in March 2020, 25 State Legislatures have signed memorandums of understanding (MoUs) to implement the project, with 22 receiving funds and 14 already live on the platform.

Recent enhancements include language translation capabilities via the Bhashini API, improved member interfaces, and upgraded cloud infrastructure for seamless assembly sessions.

NeVA 2.0 Mobile App

The updated mobile app now features a dashboard tracking notices, questions, bills, and committee reports. It also includes detailed member profiles and an agenda overview, helping to streamline legislative processes.

National Youth Parliament Scheme (NYPS) 2.0

Aimed at instilling democratic values among youth, the revamped NYPS portal, launched on September 11, 2024, now allows participation from individuals and groups, in addition to educational institutions. Participants will receive certificates to recognize their engagement.

National Youth Parliament Competition for Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRSs)

A new scheme exclusively for EMRSs was introduced to engage tribal students in parliamentary processes, fostering democratic values and enhancing their understanding of governance.

Subordinate Legislation Management System (SLMS)

Launched on September 11, 2024, this digital system replaces the previous offline process, facilitating better management and review of subordinate legislation, impacting government departments and the public.

Consultative Committees Management System (CCMS)

This new digital mechanism automates processes related to consultative committee meetings, improving efficiency and transparency in government operations.

Commitment to Cleanliness and Environmental AwarenessIn addition to the digital initiatives, Minister Rijiju emphasized the ministry's involvement in the Swachhta Hi Seva Abhiyan 2024, highlighting the organization of a Mass Cleanliness Drive on September 23, 2024. The initiative aimed to promote cleanliness across India and involved various activities, including:

An Essay Writing Competition at the Kerala Education Society Sr. Sec. School in New Delhi, centered around the theme “Swabhaav Swachhata, Sanskar Swachhata.” Approximately 120 students participated, and winners received cash prizes and certificates.

A Tree Plantation Drive under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam Abhiyan’ initiative, reinforcing the importance of environmental stewardship among students.

The mass cleanliness drive engaged students in cleaning efforts around their school and the surrounding areas, promoting a sense of community and responsibility.
