Tamil Nadu police have lodged a Rs 27.90 crore bribery case against former AIADMK minister R Vaithilingam and a prominent property-infrastructure firm for securing planning permission illegally in 2016.

The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) has listed Vaithilingam as the principal accused, alongside ten others including Shriram Properties and its director. Neither Vaithilingam nor the company has commented on the allegations.

Moreover, the FIR names Vaithilingam's son, V Prabhu, as an accused, implicating him and a 'shell' company in the bribery plot. The case includes charges under IPC section 120 B and the Prevention of Corruption Act.
