In an urgent plea to the international community, Nepal's Foreign Minister Arzu Deuba Rana has called for immediate action to secure the safe release of Nepali youth Bipin Joshi, who has been held captive by the Palestinian militant group Hamas since October 7 last year.
Rana's appeal came during her address at the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) meeting in New York on Monday. She underscored Nepal's grave concern and readiness to see Joshi's return, while also denouncing the deadly Hamas attack that resulted in ten Nepali students' deaths.
Rana condemned global conflicts, including those in Gaza and between Russia and Ukraine, stressing the urgent need for a collective international effort to cease violence and prioritize civilian protection. She highlighted the ongoing violation of Geneva Conventions at their 75th anniversary and called for an end to attacks on civilians and infrastructure.
