Israel and Hezbollah traded fire again on Tuesday, marking another chapter in their escalating conflict. Israeli airstrikes on Beirut have dramatically increased the death toll, which now approaches 560. This has forced thousands to flee southern Lebanon, with shelters filling up rapidly in Beirut and Sidon.
Displaced civilians, like Issa Baydoun who fled from Shihine, recount harrowing escapes. Finding shelters full, many resorted to sleeping in cars or outdoor areas. Social media users and volunteers have stepped in to offer whatever help they can, setting up kitchens and offering temporary accommodations.
Both sides continue to launch attacks. Hezbollah claimed responsibility for striking eight sites in Israel, while the Israeli military responded with multiple airstrikes and artillery fire. The border with Syria has seen increased traffic as people attempt to escape the violence that looms larger each day.
