Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya announced on Monday that an investigation is underway into claims of an unsafe and exploitative work environment that allegedly resulted in the death of EY staffer Anna Sebastian Perayil. A report on the findings is expected within 10 days.
Anna Sebastian Perayil was a 26-year-old chartered accountant who succumbed to extreme work pressure at S R Batliboi, an EY Global member firm. Mandaviya assured that relevant action would follow based on the report's outcome.
The Ministry of Labour & Employment is taking the issue seriously. Union Minister of State Shobha Karandlaje expressed deep sadness over the incident and confirmed that a thorough investigation is ongoing. EY has stated its commitment to improving workplace conditions and providing support to Perayil's family.
