Police Gunned Down Second Accused in Sultanpur Robbery
The Uttar Pradesh Police announced on Monday that they have killed Anuj Pratap Singh, an accused in the Sultanpur jewellery store robbery, during a pre-dawn encounter in Unnao district. Singh was the second suspect to be taken down by the authorities following the death of another suspect, Mangesh Yadav, earlier this month. The encounter led to a political controversy with accusations of it being a 'fake'.

The Uttar Pradesh Police announced on Monday that a second suspect involved in the Sultanpur jewellery store heist was killed in a pre-dawn encounter in Unnao district.
According to officials, the gunfight between Anuj Pratap Singh and the Special Task Force (STF) from Lucknow took place around 4 am in the Achalganj area. Singh was taken to a government hospital, but he was declared dead by doctors upon arrival.
Police had previously gunned down Mangesh Yadav, another accused in the robbery, generating political controversy. The Samajwadi Party and Congress labeled the encounters as 'fake', while the police denied any wrongdoing.
