The Uttarakhand High Court has denied the anticipatory bail application of Mukesh Bora, president of the Nainital dairy union, on Saturday. Bora is facing serious accusations, including charges of rape and sections of the POCSO Act.
Bora has been on the run since an FIR was filed against him. His initial request for a stay of arrest was turned down by the High Court. On Saturday, through his legal representatives, he sought anticipatory bail.
Justice Ravindra Maithani, presiding over a single bench, ruled Bora's application unsustainable. The court noted that anticipatory bail is not permissible in cases involving the POCSO, NDPS, and PC Acts. The state opposed the bail request, highlighting the severity of the charges, Bora's absconding status, and his property seizure.
